NEW LICENSEES FOR POPPIXIE

Rainbow SpA has agreed two new deals for its brand new property Poppixie with Italian children’s clothing company, Mirtillo and a back to school company, Paxos.

The apparel deal with luxury goods company Mirtillo is for outerwear in Italy. Mirtillo commits to manufacturing and selling high-quality, enduring product and its line of clothes, for children from 0-16 years old, are known to be high-end and stylish, yet both affordable and comfortable, appealing to children and parents alike.

Paxos will be rolling out its product in Greece, Cyprus and the Middle East. Both deals come on the heels of a European master toy license and a toy vending machine deal with Bandai.

Poppixie is Rainbow’s latest animated property launching for the first time at this year’s BLE and MIPCOM, and available for TV in 2010. The Pixie characters have already gathered a strong fan base and have proven licensing appeal, thanks to their appearance in Winx Club Series Two in 2006. “As soon as the Pixies appeared on screen they instantly became popular with children, achieving excellent results both in terms of viewer numbers and product sales. For this reason I decided to bring these cute mini fairies to life and give them their own show and a licensing program tailor-made around the brand,” says Iginio Straffi, founder of Rainbow SpA.

This popularity and success manifested itself in a massively successful fashion doll launch in 2006, when it became the best-selling doll in Italy, as well as a huge Kinder Egg promotion, which sold several million units. Rainbow feel confident that the Pixies will continue to find success in Italy following its launch on RAI next year, and the rest of the world as well.
